I was shown a rather expensive SS document I assumed was fake after comparing the signature to multiple documents in his BDC file (Personalakte).

Just wanted you to see from your original inquiry what his signature looks like on 40+ documents in his Personalakte during 1935-45 and that is why I feel it is a fake.
As you wrote, the dealer informed you he knows militaria as he's been selling for 20+ years and the difference in your document's signature compared to my archive copies was due to the officer being tired at the front from combat. Assuming he was ambidextrous, I don't have any period documents to compare with an obvious left hand signature. All those in his file I have he signed with his right hand. That would also probably explain why he misspelled his own name when he signed your document.

Just wanted you to see from your original inquiry what his signature looks like on 40+ documents in his Personalakte during 1935-45 and that is why I feel it is a fake.As you wrote, the dealer informed you he knows militaria as he's been selling for 20+ years and the difference in your document's signature compared to my archive copies was due to the officer being tired at the front from combat. Assuming he was ambidextrous, I don't have any period documents to compare with an obvious left hand signature. All those in his file I have he signed with his right hand. That would also probably explain why he misspelled his own name when he signed your document.
