    SS Cap

So, from this one photo can you tell if it's crap or good? Or are additional photos needed?

Is it just me or is the skull crudely shaped near top left of head?

Post-war Allteste hat from the 1960s and 1970s. Very nice copy and I have been looking for one.

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.

Good assmann eagle and the skulls may be original or post war. Most collectors do not believe in the 3 prong skulls.

There has already been a ground dug 3 prong skull found by a forum member. I find it hard to believe they are not real. But that's another story. Regarding the cap. Is this a tellerform? Was there a true WSS tellerform cap made?

Ha ha ha - fixed it for you...............

You really need to state this is your opinion - not a fact.

Or as a member warned me in a recent thread - you really need to "be a bit more restrictive with your statments"

Tony, you are misquoting me..... IMO, as well as that of another forum member who ground dug a three prong skull, that they are indead real.

That's just it - it's your opinion. It's not my opinion and when you speak, you speak for yourself - you don't speak for me.

My opinion are these are not authentic until I see some substantial proof that they are. Ground dug finds, barn finds, vet finds and other stories are not proof enough for me.

The cap is a reproduction and the TK and Adler are both bad.

So has one of these 3 prongers ever appeared on an untouched original cap ? Or are they just found on the old fakes ? Other than one collector's 'ground-dug' example do they crop up like the others in primary source vet bring back groups ?

On the other hand, have you ever identified the source of what you are calling fake, seen these in an early 1970's german repro catalog or any other such thing? At least I have the word of a forum member that claims to have dug one in Europe. At least that bit of information casts a ray of hope on a rather over debated topic to the contrary. Iwill try to find the thread regarding the find and post it for everyones review.

I'd be surprised if the eagle was bad- these caps almost always utilized original unmarked Assmann eagles...
