Tab pips: Thumbs up?/Thumbs-down?

Have seen this type of pip many times, and always wondered . . . who believes these are pre-1945? Who believes these are post-1945?

Some say "convex" pips like these are post-war, and some say they were used prior to 1945 - what do you say? All opinions welcomed, and an explanation of your opinion would be greatly appreciated . . .

I seen these style pips on lots of original tabs ... so I don't have a problem with them.

Convex is the only way I know pips, how would then Concave pips look like???
This pip style I would call probably in the early years. But who knows for sure ...

I have many of these attached to original insignia, so I am confident they are pre-1945. The glass shoulderboard pips commonly attributed to the SS also have the same profile.

I think pips came in all kinds of minor variations in shape- I'd be more concerned about the prongs on the back. These ones, with flat, squared-off prongs, look fine to me! Round, brass prongs are generally to be avoided...
