    Dutch SS Postcard

    Hi,

I thought some of you might like to know that Tom Capparelli's postcard auction has a nice Waffen SS recruitment postcard for Dutch speaking areas by Anton.....a rare card that some of you might like to know about.

    Gary B

(I am not affiliated with Tom in any way nor is this my card in the auction - I believe all cards are his)

    Dear Gary,

    Thanks for the tip.

The same drawing was used as a cover for a book / leaflet for Dutch / Flemisch WSS Volunteers.

    best regards,

Nice selection - but his prices are way over the top for postcards; even for a dealer.

I got these from fellow collectors for less than one of his Anton postcards.

Hi Tony very nice cards the LAH card is very rare and sought after by collectors these are not cheap but if you got them at half what an Anton card cost you did good. Most SS and foreign volunteer cards are very expensive and scarce if not rare. And yes Tom has very high prices on cards but you will also find some very hard and rare cards if you know what your looking for. I have purchase many cards from him at reasonable prices.

                Thanks Rene.

I guess that's the "rare" and "desirability" factors coming into play again.

SS items have always been desirable but not necessarily rare.

Rare I would classify as maybe one or two coming up for sale in say 10 years. Even if there are dozen's in collections, if no one is selling them then the market will see them as rare.

Some items may not be that rare but very desirable - like SS chain daggers. Most of us SS collectors would like one I guess.

Dealers will play on both these factors to set their prices.

So Tom has two of the same Anton SS "Auch Du" postcards at $650 each. I see that card pop up for sale fairly regularly so I would not class it as particularly rare - but it is desirable, as are all of Anton's SS artwork. The "Auch Du" poster however virtually never comes to market and is very rare and desirable in comparison.

I'm not saying Tom doesn't have both rare and desirable postcards - I'm sure he does.

So if that Anton postcard is worth $650, do you think I should be able to get $15K - $20K for this extremely rare Anton poster??? I don't think I'll hold my breath on it......

                Makes an interesting discussion though.
