Ahh Karma, good thing JB didnt rear end a Pinto or those ten suitcases would have gone up like 50 year old bone dry timber. Seeing that Kombi, I wouldn't trade minty items against it, just my preference, I know the piece BDE posted is pretty awesome, and
heard that someone got the "pick of the litter" so to speak of the 3/4 of these JB had. I'd hang on to minty stuff, this piece just looks a bit ratty, and well, it dosn't do anything for me, but if it does something for you, hope it works out in the end, it will be a fine story to tell your grandchildren when one day! You deserve a medal for even delving this far into the old and odd spiders den! I guarantee you ten years from now he will be hauling around those same 10 suitcases, with his "ohhhs' and "ahhhhs" and not knowing seemingly how to price them, not wanting to really part with the stuff, just hauling it around so someone will talk to him, pretty sad, when I first met him, he was trying "to sell the stuff rather than die with it"...I must have asked about a dozen pieces, common stuff, 30 fricking Heer winter fur hats, every molted rat color you could ever find "ohh thats not for sale,' "dont know that pair of underwear is worth". I asked, rather told him point blank, "look I drove down here 8 hours because you were "selling your collection and now Im fricking opening up containers cutting my hand, why dont you get your ass off the couch and open this **** up as I dont know how these fricking containers open up" (it was about 98 in his house. Finally disgusted I told him "you want to sell this crap or die with it, I dont care" God, sorry for the rant, it just (and other experiences with him) was such a bitter awful experience, I tasted bile for a week, apparently I'm still tasting some.

I learned LONG ago, when you come into contact with this sort of individual, NOTHING they have is worth the association. Probably have lost out on some nice stuff; but I haven't done too bad over the years w/o dealing with this type.

Thanks Steve for the photos, I have heard about this Combi for years, what a dis-appointment , that repaired area is hard to get by. The pattern is nice but I would question its worth ? maybe its me ?

Jim, I agree. Nice pattern, to much damage. It never turned me on, I say 15k.

In my opinion, let him keep it, its not worth 15 k in that condition, its the last of the bunch, and one can see why it is left over, it should have been left as is and restored properly, but, still, does nothing for me, but that's just me. IMO as well, the market is tanking on this stuff, everyone and his brother has a "sale" going on, and when was the last time one saw Whamonds site with such few new and exciting offerings? I remember when his catalog and site was a buzz with activity, with a constant turn over of really nice items, now I dont see much anything worth owning these days. Items, like mine as well, languish on the estand, nice pieces sit and prices drop like a rock, and what few really choice pieces there are out there sell by a phone call or word of mouth it seems. Its a sign of the times, and its not going to get better in the near future, I know of several dealers who turn nice things down because they can't get rid of it, and simply are not buying, some are, but those are the ones with a pretty hefty available source of funds, and who have the patience to wait out the storm. Those dealers who say the market is strong and never been better are obviously doing what every good businessman does, don't shoot yourself in the foot. What does one think they will say, "this stuff is going in the $hitter, and I would not be buying" they are not stupid, things will improve, or, really they may not..Now, as to the Kombi...

The one BDE posted was the one to own and worth the price, the other one is frankly a mess and he will be carting this stuff around as said for quite a while, until a dose of reality sets in. The sniper veils, now their is something incredibly rare and worth owning, your talking apples and oranges, I would not put it in the same league as the Kombi at all, and understand why those sold. I have three very nice pieces that originated in some fashion from him, luckily the mint crisp dot panzer pants I bought were from a forum member who posted them here on estand, he got them from JB, when I got the pants, he told me he knew where the jacket was, I was interested, he got the jacket from JB and I paid him (the person I bought the pants from and not JB). So in all told I only had to deal with him on one occasion, actually two, but two too many. I agree with Mr Singer, its not worth the hassle, plenty of nice stuff out there without the headache. Good luck to you Kammoman, your a bigger man than I, as if I saw him again I'd tell him to %^%$ off for sure. My advice, for what it may or may not be worth, keep your minty blurred edge, dot, US items, and your soul, especially the latter.

I saw the 2 Kombis he has left again today, They both have some issues but given the fact their are maybe a dozen plus or minus in the world I am sure they will find a home,
The pair pictured were repaired on the autum side so the repair looks bad on the spring side, Turned inside out makes a BIG diffrence.
With a little TLC both sets would make a very nice display IMO.

Sounds like a few people are unhappy they did not get what they wanted from JB.

Hello Brian, you have the best Kombi I have seen. People are miffed at Jerome because frankly, he is an A$$, as you well know in my last attempt to purchase something from him, but, I'd say, best to let that die along with this bashing of an unpleasant man. People don't like being "dicke#" around with, Im sure it has more to do with that than not being able to purchase another piece for the closet, he can keep his stuff, choke on it, or be buried with it, about as politically correct as I can make it. Enough said.

He was on some sort of medication that tempered his otherwise usual tone, such as a pain med from the accident, or other psychotropic medication would be my best guess, just a guess, or he was just in a good mood and "high on life" as one could put it. All conjecture. But, in the end, Owen, did you get your piece? Either way, I hope you are happy with your decision, I'm sure you acquired or didn't acquire what pleased you the most, happy hunting!.
