Panzer Combination plain tree -oak but a big collecting question ????

    hi all
I am in a position to get a rare panzer combination in a oak front panel -plain tree over print back print .
    problem is this ..................
It can come as a massive swop deal .
Do I give a blured edge mint smock m-42 + a 44 dot set +a US camouflaged m-42 jump set in trade plus a #2 zelt and a WH m-40 mint single decal helmet ????
I think combis are the hardest to find SS camouflage uniforms but what do you think .
Am I out of my mind ??
Please help me go through this massive collecting question as I am in a flux
    Thanks
    owen

Question, how many mint SS smocks do you have? How many mint SS dot pattern sets do you have? Sounds like your trading 30 plus grand for the item....? Is it one of Jerome Blakes old pieces? Well, if it were me, unless I had several mint smocks, and at least one more mint SS dot hanging around, I'd hang on to your current pieces. Your giving up a lot, but the one piece camo is one of the hardest pieces out there. I'd love to own one, but I dont value them at 30k worth of good mint items, unless you have more mint items to spare. Its a tough call, and you will have the pride of having the kombi, but also know those other pieces will be hard to replace. In the end, do whatever you feel will make you the happiest, with no regrets, and remember, its always easier to buy a piece than it is to sell it

I am always curious why some one would swap a very rare HIGH END item for a bunch of other things (though very nice themselves).

              Owen,

Are you seriously asking anyone that has met you if your out of your mind? This is a trick question...right?

It all depends on how much you have in your trade items. If it looks like the one Steve pictured I think I would go for it, you can always replace the other stuff.

I have no idea what the US set is worth but if you can get a Kombi in good condition for the german stuff you have listed you'd have a very good deal IMO.

On that I would disagree, I think block and lateral smocks are even harder to find, that is probably because the Kombi was more practical in civil life and therefore more of them were kept, problem is that relatively few were made in the first place. Also most of the men that wore a lateral or block smock were dead, disabled or for a very long time in combat at the time the Kombi was introduced and their smocks vanished with them.

In any case, if you haven't seen a real one before in detail, be very careful and ask for help from those who did and don't show detailed pics on the forum.

                Cheers

being an addict to SS armour I 'd go for it without any further hesitation. The last time I saw a good one for sale was 3 years ago: how many BE smocks and 44 dot appeared on the market in the past 3 years?

Well that is the thing .
There are lots of 44 dot always around.
It is NOT rare at all .
Pullovers can be had if you put in a little work .
Combis are a rare bird indeed .
sorry I cannot post the cammo set as my camera is in a mess .
If you go the the US military forum you cam see it in my collections page called "Welcome to camouflage country "
Let me know what you think .
I have had it for years well before the current craze for all things Airborne happened .
It was real CHEAP as the guy I got from called it a dirty painted set !!!

Any Decision? Personally I like these, a bit more bang for your buck, but they seem to be underappreciated for the lack of the distinct and vibrant familiar SS camo patterns, nonetheless, the shunned twin of the camo kombi. Taking nothing away from the camo kombi, it is a rare bear, and a great piece, and if you want to assemble all the main SS panzer pieces, its probably the hardest to find next to the Panzer Dot set, but I would think a must if you want to complete the SS panzer lineup.
