I am bringing this thread back to the top for discussion as it shows a variation of this type of M43 clearly with grommets which is factory M43 and not a retailored M42/43.

Does anyone have an example of one of these caps to show ?

That appears to be the 4th time you mentioned their single grommet SS M43 caps and had no response.

The silence is a bit deafening in here......

Just goes to show you can't dismiss these variations out of hand. I'm sure there were a lot of guys who held onto their "strange" issue caps after transfers between Heer and SS units and vice versa and just changed the insignia to suit. So SS M43 caps with RB numbers, herringbone and other oddball linings, single and double vent grommets , and God knows what else we haven't seen yet that are not regulation are all possible; the problem is verifying them - which might be next to impossible.

I don't have a single grommet type in my collection. Only the strange double grommet SS officers M43 with the bright yellow lining.

Adding to this thread - thanks tp 90th light!. I have just seen briefly a purported WSS feld grau M43 cap with a green trap- not the seperate eagle/skull insignia seen in the walloien images in this thread. The cap has an almost factory stitched trap which on its own you would say looked good. The cap is the two metal buttoned version. The grommets are one either side and are in a bare metal state. The interior has faint stamp markings.

Its a strange one - I hope to get decent photos this week.

How about being on the cover of the German 'Life' magazine 'Signal' ? But this one is Belgian or Danish ?
Anyway it is my favorite of Degrelle right after the famous 'break-out at Cherkassy.

Hope you guys like this one....it's a tough issue to find.
