        Inside

The inside is kind of ratty from some type of critter chewing on the bottom silk panels.

Thank you, guys, for sharing with us!

              Are there any officer tunics?

                tunic

Another one of my SS tunics, this is a model 36 reissued in 1941 to the SS. I got this from a bale of Heer tunics in 1978. This tunic had been stripped, but it was clear that the sleeve eagle had been there along with a jagged hole that the souvenir hunter had cut into the sleeve to harvest the eagle (probably used a bayonet). Outline of the tabs and cuff title could be seen. I have since attempted to restore it and here it is in it's current status.

                      hole

Picture of front belt support hole. In fact this was manufactured with 3 holes, but after it was turned in for retrofit it was retailored and shortened. The lower pockets were moved up covering two of the holes. The tunic was then reissued to the SS.

                        holes

Inside shot of the tunic showing the original three holes--only the top hole pictured here can now be seen from the outside. Gary mentioned this practice in an earlier thread I believe:

                        Thanks for looking...
