    Grant,

no, that question has in fact been addressed and was not avoided at all. It was said that the pictorial material is to be shown by the current owner exclusively. A pity if he chooses not to do so.

Regrettably neither me nor you have the right to demand the pictorial material to be shown, you can ask as you did but if the owner decides not to follow your request then there is nothing you or I could do.

I can fully understand you don't like your tabs being challenged, who would?

But what might look a bit odd to the neutral reader is that you request for pictures to be shown but want the neutral reader to believe you on good words. Which is fine for sure as I am not doubting what you have said, however, posting parts of a private message that's been sent to you is not fully serving your integrity I am afraid.

Also I can't see, as you seem not to like the Plabst tabs, what a change a picture could make.

It is a general problem, I am not saying you are effected, but it can often be observed, that a change of mind will not be expressed as that would require to admit one was wrong. This even more so commands respect for RobertH's decision to come back and declare that he changed his mind, I suppose he hasn't seen any picture of the group himself but "only" looked at the tabs in hand or at pictures showing the tabs.

Some of the items you have shown are "Plabst-items", these represent a minor fraction of what was found. I can fully understand that you and most other people can't even imagine what was found there, it is in fact hard to believe based on descriptions, it was truly a hoard.

I have no doubt what you are saying is true, but I think that the questions that several people have asked for is this:

There have been claims that there are pictures out there of the grouping as it came out of the "proverbial woodwork" , but where are these pictures ???

I know that you have commented in post #153, that they are at the new owner's privledge, but I guess that it is now known, that the grouping was broken up, therefore there appear to be several owners, so, I say again, who cares if the original pictures are shown.

For some reason these questions along with other ones are still being avoided

At this point, I think that it is a instrumental part of this discussion. Here is a picture that someone provided earlier in this thread of the Plabst grouping. Is this the only one ?? You can clearly see the Doctors two cuff bands, which by the way, are excellent pieces, but where are the collar tabs that Peter v. L is claiming to be part of the grouping ??

Now, I have also posted a picture of an TK tunic, that also supposedly came from the Plabst grouping. This tunic was purchased by me from Martin Styles of Hannah's Reich, along with all of the other insignias in the picture. Martin had the tunic professionally restored, which the tunic looks great. Now, if this tunic, in fact, did come the Plabst grouping, then I too would be very interested in seeing if this tunic and insignias etc... was part of the Plabst Grouping.

If you look at this this way, I too am a part owner of the grouping, and would like for the original photos to be shown.
        Grant-

-I agree this guy definately exists-

-I have seen pictures of the paperwork shown in the photos and the badges and surely a nice collection of items-

Here's another cuffband from the grouping - one of three type 2 Oberbayern titles which it contained.

The tunic that came with the collection was the piece de resistance and bore what is arguably the rarest and most desirable cuffband of all.

Far from being scattered to the winds, I think the majority of the grouping is owned by various forum members. Whether they share them or not is their perogative.

                  TomH

I can confirm what TomH is saying. There were 3 Flatwire Oberbayern Type 2's and actually 2 Uniforms.

I think the smiley faces are a "quirk" in the forum software and not intentional...I have seen this happen before,

Dr. Stranglove, Ok I guess that I will have to say that I will never see the pictures of the grouping. I will accept that and move on.

If the new owner of the Peter v. L tabs likes them and is satisfied , then that is all that really matters. Good for him.

Fritz, You are correct with your statement, I did take exception to the accusations against my tabs, which I will continue to do so, but apparently this will happen on another day.

My father told me of a old saying:

" When you find yourself in a arguement with either a self proclaimed genius or a obvious fool, then you are better off to just walk away, because you will never win"

With this being said, then I think that, this will be my last post of this thread.

                          Early Retirement?

H, thank you for the period foto you posted earlier. It caught my attention in that it seems to have many similarities with the Plabst Tabs. I can't help but notice there is no wool coming through the top skull sutures on the period foto like so many of the accepted real tabs and then there is the very close simliarity of the period foto bones to the bones of the Plabst Tabs.

I am not calling anybody's Tabs fake I am just thinking it could be possible there are far more varieties of this Tab than we know.

No, it is the EM/NCO RZM machine embroidered Oberbayern skull. It is the cuff title that haunts the dreams of SS insignia collectors.
