To All,
I feel privilaged to be able to join this forum as I've been looking at it over the last couple of weeks at work. You guys are absolutely incredible with your knowledge! It brings joy to be able to read all your posts and see your collections.
I'm 30 years old, never had much money to buy original/repro equipment. When I had opportunity to aquire something the money wasn't there and now with better job those deals are no longer there. Being of Czech backround, has given me a chance so pick some things up back home on the odd trip. What I saw there 10 years ago is no longer there but few things pop up. (ieOriginal SS Zehlbahn 10 years ago was about 100-200$) Anyway, I'm rambling. The SS cap. This was my first thing I ever got. My uncle gave it to me when he found out that this is where my interest lies. His price for getting it was 1/2 dozen eggs. Who gave it to him? A routed unit was retreating through his town in 1945, a man asked him (uncle was 12 years old)if he can buy some food....Being it a small town of about 150 people everyone had chickens. My uncle ran away and few minutes later came back with the eggs he scooped from his back yard. For payment my uncle just shrugged. The soldier gave his some coin an popped this hat on his head. Unfortunately my uncle removed the insignia after the war for fear of retribuition from the communist bastards that controlled our country so only stiching remains....
Crap. How do I post picture or attachments...er I just read the bottom...I can't post pics!!!!
I wanted to show what I picked up over the years. Not much but there is
SS Helmet cover
SS Ital jacket (Normandy style)
SS 43 cap
SS pony back pack (?orig?)
other stuff.
I had a M-16 SS transitional helmet here but could not get rid of it as someone from the theater/movie set touched up the black paint. But the helmet was a DD Black parade helmet! Sorry guys. I guess my first post could be a failure.
PSWatch out for stuff that comes from Czech. Especially SS stuff. I'll give you guys some more info later.
