Dachau stamped greatcoat

Hi guys,

I have since long an overcoat which is Dachau stamped and has a sleeve eagle. I would like your opinions on both stamps and the eagle.

The coat is definately period used and of correct manufacture. It looks like a WH model to me with french cuffs.

The stamping reads:

479/43

45 SS Dachau 45

129

90 68

I have seen the 479/43 stamp on an SS overcoat before. What do you guys think...does it have a chance?

For what its worth; Weitze has a similar coat with the 479/43 stamp.

something a little 'too trying to please' about the number fonts. is the conclusion that the liner was replaced with a fake depot stamp?or the ss part alone was added? interesting but shame to think an honest m40 was vandalized in such a way, however minor.

Thanks for the comments so far.

The liner is definately not replaced. No doubt about that. If the "ss Dachau"was added later it was a hell of a good job with the ink being exactly the same colour. But nothing is impossible I guess.

What about the eagle? Real or bad?

Personally I don't like the stamping or the eagle. The fact Herr Weitze has one would also raise concerns.

I think this greatcoat dind't have this stamp originally.
Wartime coat, postwar stamp IMO.
