            Hi Guys:

This is not post war cloth but factory backing...they did it this way at times in my opinion because the workers (prisoners?) were not that good at folding over the selvage and stitching the pieces on while holding the folded over selvage.....so it was much easier to cut around the outline and paste down to cotton and then sew down, but definately done at the point of assembly of the fez and not postwar,

            Best,

            J

My guess is that it was merely a more expediant method developed to increase worker efficiency/productivity which had more to do with the basic difficulty of sewing insignia onto the oddly shaped fezzes, than something to do with the talent of the particular workers employed in that task. Regardless, it is 100% wartime original; I have seen this technique used on dozens of original fezzes.

All is orginal regarding those insignias, including the backing.

                No problems!

                Cheers,
                Felix

                    Thanks again guys
I know on some fezes, they seem to have a "padded" feel to them.
So i guess this is how it was done at the factory / camp?
I am slowly getting back in to collecting insignia, before it was headgear of all branches, daggers, uniforms...god this is addicting
Any help on a fair price on these, with that type of backing, would be greatly appreciated
                    Regards,
                    Gary
