SS Fez; thoughts on it appreciated

A collector wants to trade this fez for some other gear. Before I do I would like some thoughts on the originality of the fez and the applied emblems; can you help me out?

Fez is original and not red, which is a change. Not sure how long the insignia have been there .... the stitching may not be helping though.

Robin, do you mean the "rust" markings on the eagle? Why are they commonly seen on side caps eagles, due to the way they are worn or so?
