(Early?) SS Officer tab pair . . . opinions welcomed.

I am considering placing this pair of tabs on the E-Stand later today, and would greatly appreciate any comments . . .

Thanks in advance for your replies.

The quality of the embroidery of the '57' isn't what I'd expect .... the word 'early' always rings alarm bells with me though.

                Wait for a real expert.

Thanks for your opinion . . . it was Mr. Jenkin's that labelled them as "early" on his website, not I - I was simply quoting from his original description of the tabs when I picked them up this Summer. Yes, I agree that the '57' may seem outside of the accepted norm . . . but at times, it has been demonstrated that such oddity does not necessarily discount authenticity.

For now, I will keep an open-mind on these . . . and see if we receive any further disapproval . . . I for one like them, but if they continue to get knocked-down before making it to the E-Stand, I will refrain from wasting anyone's time with an advertisement . . .

Thanks again for your comment, and looking forward to hearing more opinions . . .

I have seen other original collar tabs embroidered through the buckram. I have no problem with these.

This is the right early number style, the one from Peter M. shows is more common to find style. This early thinner embroidery you will find also on certain cuffbands. Just check out some period photos or just look into Angolia's book.

                              Embroidery

I agree the very early embroidery can be sloppy and look like this, but do you think these Pips are appropriate for this Set?
