Best SS Division
My favourite division is the Hitlerjugend but I agree that they were not the same after Normandy so I would have to give my vote to DAS RIECH as the best division throughout the war as they were in the thick of the fighting throughout and they did win more Knight`s Crosses than any other division. My favourite regiment is DER Fuhrer.

I finally gave my vote to LSSAH - because of sustained high performance in Poland ('39), Holland and France ('40), Greece and Russia ('41-'44), France and Ardennes('44) and finally Hungary, Austria and Germany ('45). Note also that the LSSAH "gave birth" to the 12th SS through the transfer of cadres (just as the TK did for the 16th SS PG - but with less success). Some highlights include the fighting through the Greek passes, Kharkov and Kursk, Bourguebus Ridge, etc. The other contender was Das Reich - the TK was removed from contention given its very high casualty rate (three times that of LSSAH and DR) which reduced its performance (IMHO) towards the end of the war (plus my personal distaste for Eicke). The Wiking fought well from 1941 onwards - and transferred its elan and standards to the Nordland - but again had a "late" start. But - if we were considering some other latecomers - should not the 17th SS PG Division "Gotz von Berlichingen" be included?
