ss signals board device question

I have an original pair of SS signals boards that have had a device removed. There is no impression on the top. There were three pins, two at the top and one at the bottom arranged in a "V" shape with the pins at the edges on all three sides. Any ideas? Most devices only have two pins. Thanks,

Does the "LAH" device have three pins like this please?

It may have been a unit number or any other kind of Heer style cypher, often these were used then the practice was later officially stopped ... the smaller 'LAH' cypher only had 2 pins.

Thanks, all numbers I have seen only have two pins. Is there a appx. I inch tall device LAH with three prongs?

Try a Heer letter device ? I don't have my Davis reference book here at home but I'll have a look what a signaller may have used.

OK Davis lists the Heer signal strap cyphers as ....

Number ................ number of unit
'Fp' and Number ........... Fortress Signals
'L' ................. Signals Training Regiments
Gothic 'S' and Arabic number ................ Signals Schools
'US' plus initial letter of school ................ Signals NCO Schools
Gothic 'S' with 'HB' below it ............... Dog & Carrier Pigeon Service School

Take your pick, but I'd have thought now that other than a number or SS-VT unit letter these would be unlikely.

Thanks, the straps are late War. I think there were LAH devices, I imagine the devices were removed from the unissued signals boards and put on a sexier waffenfarbe or tunic for more money.

Johnny, according to an article by Frank Thayer in the Winter 1997/1998 issue of The Military Advisor three pronged LAH cyphers were very common.
