    Dachau Concentration Camp today

While on our European tour this summer we were in Munich for 3 days so it would have been wrong not to have visited Dachau.

Only sections A & B (the protective custody camp and the crematoria) are open as part of the memorial site today.

The view from the jourhaus down the wire to a watchtower.

The jourhaus from inside the camp

The jourhaus gate with the infamous inscription.

The appellplatz with the maintenance building, now the museum and cinema.

    One of the many memorials

The main memorial sculpture in front of the maintenance building.

The view between the foundations of the barracks to the religious memorials at the far end from the appellplatz.

    The foundations of block 17

    The early crematoria building

    And the crematoria itself.

The later crematoria and gas chamber building.

    The bath house

    the gas chamber

    the later crematoria

          Interesting

Honestly, Mauthausen is a far more wicked looking KZL.

Dachau was not an extermination camp, so it had no functioning gas chambers, and it was also used as a refugee camp at the end and after the war. Doc is correct, if you want to see an evil place, vist Mauthausen...

I visited Dachau two years ago and the more shocking for me was that I was not very shocked, sincerely. Maybe I hoped more of this visit. The absence of the barracks, these modern memorials, the poor museum, and the lack of fornitures, accessories and so, give the appearance of an artificial place.
Anycase it´s still a very interested historical place to visit with respect for the memory of all the people who suffered there.
                  Great pics, Ian.

Also in Dachau people died: from starvation, medical experiments, injections, shot etc.

Not sure what you expect, but probably any DVD shocker would be better for you to give u the wanted thrill or just visit a SS haunted house ...
