    Unknown skull to ID

    Hi guys, I've asked the same in the International forum, with no success so far.

    I think it is not SS skull, but in this forum can be found lots of skull experts, so will try here, too

    Can you tell me, from what period/country is this skull? Measures approximately 2 x 2 cm No prongs or traces of, seems it was sewn through the holes in the bones.

            My photos are bad. It is not cast, it was very dusty - it is stamped/pressed from sheet metal, it is thin. /and these photos are bad, too,



            Searching here and there, I have not found positive ID yet. But already have my theory: it is probably a skull from the Bulgarian tank unit. The tank unit had Tank, Sturmgeschutz and other sub-units. The tank sub-unit men had black Panzer wraps, just like the German ones and had Skulls on the collar tabs. The Sturmgeschutz crews did not want to be less sharp-looking , so during the war applied Skulls to their tabs, too, no matter that was out of any regulations.

            Now to the skulls used there. Most popular were cast copies from German skulls - I believe these are originally German Panzer skulls, but you tell me, to be sure? Probably some original German skulls were used, too, but I think most popular were the cast copies, mostly used. /you have to believe me, it's this one /




            Another type used were larger skulls with longer bones. Either older German design, or Italian maybe? Here:





            So, it is obvious that the uniforms were fitted with different skulls. Unfortunately even the pictures of these men are very scarce and good pictures with details of the skulls are most difficult to find. And there is some chance, that the skull in question is another type, used by the tank men.

              This area looks like casting, but it is not, it's just some white powder stuff on the metal, oxide or just dirt.
