I'm sorry Gaspare, but the facts are clear (and becoming more clear). My article is factual, and if Don's stories don't measure up to the facts, he only has himself to blame. I will not debate this here. The facts presented in my article are my defense.

Gaspare, the article on Craig's web site was a very interesting presentation that seemed to be based on facts as he discovered them. I don't believe there was any unsubstantiated opinion about Piechl. What are the substantiated facts surrounding Piechl as you understand them? Where is Piechl documented and quoted? Is he mentioned in Schild's Gahr book? Looking at all information is clearly the logical way to analyze Craig's blog.

If you are stating his facts are incorrect, then lets examine them in order.

I can't understand why this new information would cause anyone any consternation. It makes perfect sense to me that a guy in the business of selling reproduction rings would claim to have worked for Gahr. The same way that a luftwaffe ground mechanic claims to have been a fighter pilot. These types of inflated claims can be found often, especially when someone stands to gain from exagerrating his participation in the war. Perhaps Don was suckered himself, or he reported this as fact when in fact it was just a rumour. Over time many things like this become gospel truth. At any rate I don't see anything to get worked up about.

I'm SO glad these rings do nothing for me in the least. To each his own, but they make my top 5 "would instant sell if found and couldn't care less" along with HJ knives, Army and 2nd Luft daggers, and a zillion existing 2nd Class Iron Crosses.
