I would normally dare not to post in this forum, but I couldn't stop myself from noticing that this bird has 5 wing feathers.
As a mere, and most humble, police collector I know that POLICE eagles by regulation had SIX not FIVE feathers. But I readily admit my complete ignorance regarding SS cloth insignia.
Perhaps "SS" police eagles were different than "regular" police eagles and had 5 feathers, is that what those of you affirming this insignia as original are suggesting?
In Angolia's Cloth Insignia of the SS, 2nd Edition, 1989, on page 273, the Hohere SS and Polizeifuhrer raute has six feathers. See also page 431 same edition.
My thanks to everyone on there opinions.I have been looking at dealers web sites;but cannot find any of these.Anyone know what these have sold for?Thinking about selling.
