    found this:

    Streifendienst

The Hitlerjugend Streifendienst was a special patrol service consisting of older members of the Hitler Youth. It was set up for the purpose of policing the Hitler Youth, but during the later stages of the war years it became an armed body of patriotic youth members who assisted the Police and the SS in hunting down escaped prisoners of war, allied aircrews who had baled out of their aircraft, and anyone else that was suspected of evading the authorities or were considered as enemy agents working against the National Socialist regime.

These boys wore the standard pattern HJ uniforms, and were distinguished by the use of a special cuff title bearing the words HJ Streifendienst together with white piping to their shoulder straps. When on patrol service they wore a special Streifendienst gorget.
They were trained to use small arms and rifles, and carried rifles when on duty.

<?xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /><v:shape id=_x0000_i1025 style="WIDTH: 480pt; HEIGHT: 5in" type="#_x0000_t75">Amazing that gorget looks identical to the one in my possession. I was never sure if it's original or not, but it is old. It is not in a perfect condition as you can see and has been knocked around, especially the SS circle bit. </v:shape><v:shape style="WIDTH: 480pt; HEIGHT: 5in" type="#_x0000_t75">Actually I always thought it is a nice copy.</v:shape>

The SS-Streifendienst was akin to a police detachment within the Allgemeine-SS. It came into being in 1935 as a 'patrol service' and its duties included policing the SS contingents at party rallies (ie making sure the boys didn't get drunk on duty etc!) checking SS documentation at special events and so on. Each Oberabschnitt commander could form a Streifendienst unit from his most reliable men. The units were small and mobile. During the 9th November celebrations in Munich, for example, only specially selected SS men were allowed into the areas which would be frequented by Hitler and others. It was the duty of the Munich Streifendienst that day to ensure that no unauthorised SS 'spectators' got into the central area. In short, the Streifendienst were like MPs in the Allgemeine-SS. They 'policed the police'. When on duty, they wore gorgets like that illustrated above. However, these are copies.

I agree with Robin. The two shown above are copies. The first one has the wrong style chain, almost like the Feldgendarme gorget. The correct chain has a series of tightly interlocked small rings, similar to that of the SA gorget style.
Too bad too, these are rare birds, if real would fetch $1500-3K.
