      M43

The insignia on the SS M43 looks fine. I don't see anything wrong with the cap, but SS M-43's can be really tricky. If you notice, very few people weigh in on these, unless there's something really glaringly wrong. Many fakes even use original period wool. Let's see what others say.

Original SS Panzer M43 caps are exremely rare. Gather all possible information on them on the Internet and compare inch-by-inch, all details with original examples and decide for your self. This is the best practice to find the truth/answer for your own question and this is what I would do because noone here would spend hours and hours of this work for you.

              Jacques,

I have no issues with that heer M43, stellar example in my opinion. As for the SS m43, as stated its a minefield! I would ask Bob Hritz or other more experience SS collectors for their opinions. I don't collect that branch of service due to my lack of knowledge. Love it to death but only buy stuff I know is 100% original with no Questions. Matt

Actually it was a friendly advise - to do Your Homework. Learn first, have your own opinion and be prepared to discuss it with other collectors. You can easily get a wrong opinion on your cap here because as I said there are only a few collectors who may know what original SS Panzer M43 should look like. And remember nobody owns you here anything not even an advise, not even me. And thank you for you appretiation!

                    M-43

The fact that the SS trapezoid insignia is machine sewn, is certainly a good sign. Finding information on SS M-43's is hard because the fakers are getting so good, and as I said, they even use period wool. And, of course, they often use perfectly good insignia to sell their fake product. The only SS M-43 you'll usually get a definitive answer as to authenticity, is the Dachau-style Panzer SS M-43. The wool is very fine with a distinctive weave. The lining is also peculiar to those caps, and they're so standardized, that they're almost all identical. These Dachau M-43's also have some unusual construction properties. Maybe an M-43 expert could shed some light on your particular cap.

                      Hello
They do look good indeed and original , however (without implying anything ) they both appear to have been made by the same maker , apart from the lining , the outside construction is exactly the same , for some reasons , I do find that strange .
IMO they are both original , but if these are fakes , well were are in the Poop dispenser .
                      Regards

WH cap is nice and the SS panzer looks OK to me also! I don't see any red flags!
Good trap and properly attached and Italian HBT lining material is
                        also a good sign!
                        What a score!

I only know enough on these SS M43s to be dangerous, suffice to say, I sleep well with the above mentioned Dachau caps, and have one in Black and one in Field Grey, they are the only ones that I trust to be one lookers at this juncture. I think the insignia, buttons, look good, but its the construction details that others know far better, and I do think these M43's are approaching some of the scary close SS boards which deceive a lot of people, myself included. Other "old hands" however may take one look and know immediately whether you have something good or otherwise. My opinion would be the hat is good, however, as stated, its somewhat a leap into the darkness for me, but so far, what I see is impressive, and if fake, would cause me to steer clear of M43's in general. I will add however that I do believe they are using original Italian HBT fabric in the latest offerings of SS Stug and M43 jackets, so I would still proceed with caution.

                              Looks okay to me.

Nothing jumps out as being bad.
