    SS Metal runes on e-stand

There are 2 SS metal runes up on e-stand.

Ive never actually seen these. Are they scarce and valued to be higher as opposed to the bullion or bevo pieces?

There were locally-made originals of this style, which were documented in photos, but, since there is no way of confirming when and where items like this found today were made without iron-clad provenance, you will find few collectors willing to take a chance on such pieces, regardless of the price.

I've seen period photo documented metal runes that were sewin onto the tab as well as seen 2 of them many years ago (25) in a collection that came out of France.
but I to would shy away from them.

Latvian SS occasionally used these. (not sure if those had prongs or sew-on style with small holes)
I assume the Latvians were initially issued with blank tabs and had these runes made locally.
Of course later regular SS tabs and Latvian design foreign tabs were also seen (2 styles). I agree these are a risky investment and without solid provenance not worth the gamble...unless priced in accordance with that gamble!

This is latvian made tab found on attic. A saw 3 latvian made tabs - 2 tabs with runes and one with metal fire cross. All were attached on cardboard and had similar construction. It was not regular blank tab with attachment of metal devise.

there are many items that collectors are not accustomed to seeing , with that said , i am very comfortable with putting these two ss rune items on the table. i have as stated seen plenty of photographic reference and seen a good share of period ground dug runes on the market in the past 7 years to have little doubt about the runes in question .

I was curious about those runes on e-stand too. The photos of Latvians wearing such metal runes are still different from the one offered for sale. I never actually seen such type before.

Alex - great photo! Do you happen to have a pic of the metal Firecross tab?

Alex- Great photo! Why the strip of litzen running along side the left rune?
