    SS Cap..... opions please

This is the cap the 2 previous skull and eagle came off.

I got this out of Hungary some time ago. Story goes picked up in thearte, found in old clother trunk. Had a heer Cockade on it which is evident by the 3 spaced out prongs on the front. But you can clearly see where a Skull had been on it but the impression on the front. The brim was 8/10 seperated when I got it and it had originally been "glued" back into place. I had a friend restitch it back on and he did a great job. You can see the back where the skull's been attached which you'll see in the later pics. One individual I showed it too reckoned the centre 'black' band had been dyed but there is no evidence to the such. It's black and not dark green for Heer.

So please people an honest opion on it. To me it's an original cap BUT for which service.....if it turns out to be SS then it was the buy of my life..... if not then it will still be a good buy for the money I spent on it.

    Cheers
    Mark

                      chord buttons

the buttons. I thought normally they were pinned in and not sewn....

                      they are marked SALZBURG WALLPACH

                            Inside

it's a small cap with only a 53 1/2 stamp left and part of a makers stamp under the leather band
