VT Hammerhead Eagle Value

I just picked up a tunic removed, used but still VG early SS-VT "high hammerhead" sleeve eagle.

Does anyone have a good sensing on what appropriate pricing should be for one of these..??

I have seen these go for absolutely crazy money during the last few months...................upwards of $3000.

I got this one for about $300 4 years ago.

I think that your example is a circa 1942 hammerhead, i have a couple of these myself, some on tunics some loose..anyhow I don't think that this type is from the pre-or early war period

Now for reference, if you call up the thread called: " EARLY SS VT rzm EAGLE- "

Take a look at Lorenz's eagle that starts that thread, the one I have is the identical type (excepts Lorenz's is mint while the one I have is tunic removed and is VG-EXC. condition)

That is the type of eagle i just got and that I'm trying to estimate a value on..

This one went for big bucks................similar to what I mentioned above.

The price has been deleted from the site, however, so I can't recall exactly what it was.

Certainly 4 figures in GBP.

If I remember,that one has been sold for 1200Euro.I'm pretty sure.

Thanks for the info. I knew it was a rarer one but the prices are quite "robust" these days!!

No, the one on your tunic is not a prewar VT eagle it is the same waffen ss type that was shown by Robin in post #2.

Take a look at Lorenz' eagle, the delicacy of the embroidery and the horizontal 'Feathering" in the shoulder areas are among the bigger differences.

'40 dated piece, so early war.

I belive George and Robin's eagle are not VT Eagle.I have seen these example on period pictures only on early war tunics........never on a VT but only on 1941 and so on uniforms.

i saw these eagle priced from 800 to 1700 euro.

Imo 1000 max 1200 could be interesting... more not. Moreover in this period.
