    Personally I'd wait for one that wasn't ground-dug but it's horses for courses.

        It is all a mater of personal taste, of course, but, for what it's worth, I agree with Ian.

        "Salty" is a plus in my opinion, because honest use wear represents a closer connectin with historical events to me. However, the deterioriation caused by having been burried in the earth for decades is something entirely different. I would call it "damaged."

        That being said, this one is in really good shape for a ground-dug piece and I can see the appeal to collecting artifacts recovered directly from battlefields (I have one ground-dug TK myself as a representative "conversation" piece). So, as long as that is your collecting interest and you feel the price is appropriate for such a piece, recognizing what it is, go for it.
