Agree with Pete, base material and buckram backing look perfect as does the embroidery of the runes.

Nice piece!!

The example I posted for comparison is near identical in that it shows the weave of the velveteen base material like your's and bordered runes. The buckram on mine is slightly different than yours. The best part is the vet wrote on the RZM tag "Feb 2, 1945 From SS Trooper".

The embroidery on the runes is consistent with known originals. A good piece in my opinion.
