    Dear Vincent,

Since you are an expert on winterbekleidung I am pointing my questions to you. If other people want to share their thoughts, please do so.

My question is which winter clothing are they wearing and when was it instituted?

    Many thanks,
    Yours sincerely,
    Bart Verstraeten

those boots look like russian 'valenki' boots with the complete felted wool and the rubber slip ons for the bottoms.

            Hi,
that jacket is a common rabbit fur jacket worn by all german soldiers. These jackets are of natural leather or dyed ones -possibly brown.Sometimes we can see a variation without the sleeves. The fur cap is typical for SS soldiers. The boots god knows.

            Cheers
            Petr.

I am fairly sure those boots are SS ones made of white canvas with leather binding and rubber soles.

                        Hi Bart,

Sorry for the late reply, had not noticed this thread before. These Felljacken u. Fellhosen were in use since late '41.

                        Nice pictures!

                        Regards,
                        Vincent S.

I sold this set (Rabbit skin) not too long ago...Note wooden buttons (visible on cuffs)!
The wehrmacht actually also used many captured French Army sheepskin bodywarmers.
