Hello. I have read in several places that alot of the Dachau SS foreign legion tabs (the Russian divisions, Charlemagne etc) while being period manufactured, were most likely never actually issued/worn. Is there photographic evidence of such tabs in use? I have seen Prinz Eugen and TK tabs on genuine tunics, but that is about it. I've never even seen the black Italian tabs or Dirlewanger tabs in wear. I am trying to accumulate an example of each tab that was actually worn in the war, not ones that never left the Dachau clothing depot. Any and all assistance is appreciated. Thanks!

There are many pics of a lot of these tabs but not all.
I have seen many pics of a lot of these tabs in Osprey books on the SS and foreign legions as well as the great series Foreign Legions of the Third Reich by David Littlejohn. 3 books with much great info although it is a little old now.

I have seen photos of Dirlewanger, Prinz Eugen, and Italian tabs in wear. There is speculation about many of the others... every now and then a photo surfaces that shows some previously unknown tab in use. Unfortunately, none of these photos are ever surfaced by me. I would be careful about seeing certain tabs on genuine uniforms. It would be no stretch of the imagination for someone to buy a worn and stripped SS tunic, add an original (and never issued) - lets say, Skanderbeg tab - and sell it for big bucks to the rich and ignorant.
