Last week I found this ( shortened ) WESTLAND - cufftitle that I'm still quite comfortable with - all opinions welcome ! </p> My question is : why the 2 different styles in lettering ? </p> Angolia shows " Nordland " of this type , and " Westland " of the other , i.e. with " feet " at the endings of the letters . I have found both styles existed , but is it a matter of time-period ? I could assume that since the " feet-type " look more like the BeVo , it would be later , does that make sense ? Please enlighten me , thanks ..

I know when new they had 2 paper tags...one on each end. One for the cufftitle , one for the stitching , maybe some companies farmed the stitching out to other companies or manufacturers. Maybe someone will have a better answer. Nice one regardless., possibly the answer for different configurations of stitching...anybody know for sure? I have one with both tags i believe.Comment

Thanks for the confirmation ! It came from a small SS-insignia collection that was an incredible 99.9 % repro . This one just jumped right out from between such sad items as an " SS LEIBSTANDARTE " cufftitle . If it was the one thing that poor guy did right collecting these , it was worth it . He had bought it in Australia - which inspires visions of some guilt-ridden Dutchman emigrating in 1945 ..Comment

Youre welcome...you can now pick both types out. Id say there might be several other versions in bevo also good, if anyone has any to post or the link to a thread. This is my only one. One shot(7) i used a flash to show the backround material, but its the same one thru all photos i posted. Real thread color is in the existing light photos, a little more silvery gray id say.Comment

The "feet" on the bottom of letters are called serifs. Ulric in vol 2 shows Westland and a handfull of other cuff bands without the usual serifs. The Westland with serifs is an original.Comment

Somehow almost all types seen have the " serifs " , but I did remain confident that this type was an original variation ( as mentioned by mr. Hassler .. )
