      .

Nice to see these caps. Its great to see some examples to go by when there is probably such nice fakes and modified items are coming out now more frequently to fool novice collectors. I would love to see an m43 cap thread as well from the evidence of some of the fakes and modified items we have seen recently for the same reason.

Here are some of my favorites in my friend's collection. A good number of you probably know who this collector is.

This belongs to a different friend.

The piping is white, the eagle is aluminum flat wire and the Totenkopf is an officer hand-embroidered silver bullion collar tab cut out. It is named to an officer in the RuSHA.

Straight out of a depot with former Soviet paperwork attached by string.

A very rare Waffen-SS enlisted tropical overseas cap with the equally rare autumn camouflaged insignia.

          Date 1940 with red soutashe

              Here are my 3 babies...

              Dear all,

Interesting thread indeed!!Hereby my 3 EM side-caps. It took me a long time to find these I must say. Of interest is the fact that the one on the bottom originates from a Dutch volunteer: something that makes it a very special one for me!

They all three have a very similar linings (*for me one of the first things to judge their originality) and two are void of ANY markings. The top one has a makers stamp: 'Josef Kübler - 56'.

              Best regards,

              Coco

                  Beautiful caps.

This one came out accidentally this summer. Laying under 5 cm of compressed dirt in one old sauna attic, it was not discovered by the moths. While the WH one suffered when laying in the open. SS had a very rusted safety pin attached.

Interesting that this kind of material/cloth seen by me used on the SS uniforms came only from Estonia and Latvia, I have the same tunic made of this cloth.

As i understand Kass, you have found a two of them, one SS and totally destroyed Wermacht?
Next time as I do that, make the pictures when you just discover them. This will make a great story for that!

Yes. SS was in the attic of a sauna and WH in the house attic. I should go back to search this place more "closely". I did not trouble myself to go through the whole area of sauna attic. Have to have a respirator there. There was also pile of German Army footwear and worn out gloves.

This summer came from one place a lot of various German( SS and WH) and Russian Army stuff. From one attic. Among them was 3 ss sidecaps. 2 classic ones and SS-VT. One cap was stuffed in to the nose of one civillian skiing boot. And diskovered later at home.

The owner sayd there was a major cleanout last summer and there was piles of military cloth and equipment thrown away.

love those caps. I have an m36 tunic with original applied ss arm eagle. it was found near narva in an attic or basement do not remember. my friend got it for free. It matches the caps you have. I like this kind of stuff.
