Now I think we have established his honesty from some other member's, SO COULD WE PLEASE JUST STICK TO THE APPRAISAL OF THE ITEM, good or bad

I just got back from a day away and I knew it, this wrap was bad, a good repro but not real. Shows how much know is available on the WAF.

Now, I think there is a easy way of settling up for this to make HERRWILSONs loss good. This way was once used on a bloke I knew who bought for a friend with the same outcome. Now MAL as you stated you bought this for your mate, so you sold it to him. You owe mark what he paid you for it and Hedges owes you what you paid him for it. You brokered the deal so you need to unbroker it. pay back mark first then and chase up hedges yourself.

its just speculation but after this mark might not want you to in an instant buy him some more ss stuff. ss stuff is for experts peeps who have the sniff, stick to the lower stuff

Glass, true but maybe a little too close to home.

You might not win any friends with this, but it is an interesting take on how to sort out a financial loss.

See you at Brecon if your still going.

Maybe too cleaver...If the tag is fake, it should be very easy to spot in other SS clothing.
Ohrdruf was also a training area for armored units, and I'm sure other types as well. The SS took over parts of the area in fall' 44, so their presence wasn't that large. As far as I know, there was never a Führerhauptquartier there, but construction was underway on one.

I have no idea if it is a periode tag or not, but have seen before. I think I have a pair of black pants somewhere with this tag, and HH auction # 57 lot 7442 shows the same tag from the same tailor in a LW tunic.

I actually only spent about a minute at the "Ohrdruf" website, but there was some pretty interesting stuff. I see where they may have gotten some plot lines for the series "LOST" on TV. Here is the link in case someone is interested.

So let me get this right, you say that if a friend with more experience than you sees something he wants but is not in a position to get it himself and asks you to get it for him with his money then if anything goes wrong it's your fault and loss, I don't think so that wouldn't be friendship.

Are you an expert on SS by the way? you have my real name but I don't have yours.

                Ummm,

with this additional information it looks like I have been a little harsh on you MAL. After reviewing the case notes, I have now got the full sp and I offer you an apology for missunderstanding the deal in the first instance and for that I am truly sorry.

What I now understand is that your part in this affair is similar to what they call a "MULE" in the narcotics industry. You acted as HERRWILSONS "Mule" by fetching and delivering the tunic to him after he used his higher know know of SS Stuff.

That is great news for you you have no worries here about this anymore. Let HERRWILSON chase up the original seller as it is his deal you just acted as his mule.

Better a MULE than an ASS.

                  Still didn't get your name

Thanks for the copious info Richard. I'll have to print it all out for my militaria files... and if anyone would like a copy in pamplet form they are only $15 each!

                        Richard,

It's nice to see someone put a lot of effort into an educational response for a change. Forums are supposed to exist for the opportunity to learn & exchange information, and a well laid out, clear and informative response is much more useful than the curt, one liners and dismissive comments that have become all too common across all the forums. I've noticed more guys have been stepping up to the plate and doing the same lately. Perhaps a maturation process has begun? At any rate, thanks for the opportunity to actually learn some valuable info in this treacherous area of collecting, your efforts are appreciated.
