    SS Allgemeine Mountain Caps

    What do we know about these? very little I would guess. Does anyone have an original to post?

              Great photo's Ben, I've often wondered what these were when I see the picture of Heydrich in his Bergmutze or what-ever it's designation really was.

              BTW is that Daluege in post 5 ?

                    there is a thread here on them somewhere someone has one of these,I believe some of these A-SS ski caps ended up with the Germanic SS heres a thread for a pic of one with metal totenkopf also if you type in Allgemeine ss ski cap you get the possible GSSN story and mentions a member here owning another one.

                      A very interesting area of headgear. The earliest ski cap offered to the SS was, like the first field cap, the earth gray version. Here it is in the SS price list from 1934.
                      It was made of wool and had metal badges. The eagle being worn on the front of the hat. The cap was included in the sports section of the list.
                      The black model appeared in 1935 and was specified to made from gabardine. Unlike the gray version the eagle was worn on the side of the black cap.
