The commander SS-Oscha. Walter Knecht was in the autumn of 1943 the commander of the "S22" of schw.Kp./SS-Pz.Rgt.2! He had by this time probably the best shooter of the indicative Kp. in his crew, including Uscha. Kaempf! The high number of shooting rings are the result of the successes of his battle-wagon and its directional shooters!
Here in this photo the shooter is SS-Rttf. Wüster! The rest of the crew is still unknown yet.
The photo was taken before the action at the invasion front was starting. The kill rings were banned during the operation.

    SS-Uscha. Glagow was in 1944 II.Zug Pz.Kdt. ( "122" & "124"). So a friend of mine. Now the photo is in a good hand
Intersting updated information, name I have is from Wolfgang Schneider who wrote "Das Reich Tigers, The Tigers of the 8./SS-Panzer Pegiment 2 "Das Reich," schwere SS-Panzer Abteilung 102, and schwere SS-Panzer Abteilung 502." The remnants of the Tiger Kompanie attached to Kampfgruppe "Das Reich" were absorbed by the 1.Kompanie of the schwere according to his books. He gives the commander of "122" as Maher and "124" as Kaempf in early June 1944.

Sylvester Stadler getting the Oakleaves from Hitler. Walter Krügrer beside him will receive the same award next. They briefly left the front together for the award presentation.

I had this portrait of Otto Baum done for volume 1 of "Waffen-SS Commanders." The artist was a high school student and it's a perfect image of him. Baum had the original framed in his home and I made some copies for him to sign in slightly smaller size. On mine he added a lengthy dedication

Several staff officers kept this insert about Paul Hausser's Swords award, they were posted around divisional HQ to announce their former commander's award. Was given one and seemed worth framing.
