As I explained in post #145, after HIAG dissolved some groups continued by area or unit. Truppenkameradschaft 18/33 combined veterans of 2 units and their earlier elements for one of those. They established their own awards and I received this for helping their historian with the Brigade and then later divisional history of the 18SS Division. The Brigade history was only for members but the divisional history covering 1944/1945 was eventually published.

I was hoping to see an SS battalion flag or Standard appear in the thread............

This photo is a relatively famous one of a SS-Ostuf. (Leutnant) wearing a LW helmet on the field. I will unfortunately be of little help in giving more info about it, and will let this task to a fellow member who knows where it was published.

(It was actually a wink about the remark made on the soldier visible twice on Herr Bode's very interesting pictures : regarding these, as helmets were generally to be worn by the recipients during such ceremonies, I guess that in this case the WH soldier in question simply borrowed a lid from a WSS Kamerad.)

I personally have never seen anything like this before. It's got to be the library, for all off us on the SS helmets. Greatest of displays known to man kind I think.
