    Tony,
Beauty is indeed a personal taste, but I'll stick with my top 3
    Best regards,

      That's cool.

I was hoping a few other members might jump in with their top 3 Flemish posters - we might see a few more interesting ones.

        Bumping the thread.

Anyone of you fine gents get a hold of any of the posters offered at HH's auction house? A couple French ones were offered, that I had never seen (presuming original).

Think the highest paid was 4,000 euro (plus 23%) for the Bertau Dragon slaying poster.

Many went for over what I have seen them go for on dealer sites...especially when you take into account the 23% HH fee....

Others went for fairly reasonable prices... I bid on 4 and in hindsight probably should have pushed on with 1 or 2.....But, then where does it end..

The Bertau poster was damaged and the auctioneer also mentioned that it had been mounted on card or cardboard.....IMO way overpriced for its condition and who knows how it was mounted as it clearly doesn't show in the photo...

Anyone here pick up any of the offerings...?

Btw......whoever purchased the fake Mjolnir poster.....Ouch!

The Dragon poster was a bit over priced for the condition. It appeared to be glued to the cardboard from what I could tell. There's another couple of hundred dollars to have a restorer fix it up. However, $6000 to $7000 was about the going retail price for one of these in good condition. In the depressed market it should be a bit less.

All went for way more than I was willing to pay. That 23% fee adds a good chunk of change to the price. Plus postage and exchange rate fees/bank charges all add to the cost - unless of course if you're living in Germany and sitting in the auction room paying them cash.

I'll just have to be content with my new flatwire SS Totenkopf collar tab set which was a much better bargain........

My thoughts too. I've got a nice Belgian one coming very soon, and with Christmas coming, have to be able to afford a nice gift for the wife, since she doesn't give me grief about my purchases. haha.

I believe the saying goes, "Happy wife, Happy life".....

One thing that wasn't on offer at the auction that I am in desperate need of.........more wall space...

Just build some walls in your backyard......

Collectors shouldn't have a wife - unless she collects as well. You crazy monkeys.....

                    Hi,

all the posters were clearly overpriced, not including the few fakes (BAM in your face).

Wolfslair44 : i finally got the direct contact with De Bruyne; weeks after i asked it... I sent him an email about your poster...

                    See You

The ideal plan is to build a new house with gallery that leads to the study (war room)... as long as the wife gets a giant shoe room that is....

As for collectors shouldn't having wives.....where was that advice several years ago...? I probably would have cleaned up at the HH auction if that was the case...

With that crazy bidding you would have been cleaned out......not up.

                          Hi,

Wolfslair44, i got the reply from M. De Bruyne today :

Cependant, je puis vous dire, sans grand risque de me tromper ,que l'illustration montrant un motocycliste est vraisemblablement un faux, voire une fabrication pour la simple raison que l'adresse ne doit pas être
10, Rue du CoMgres mais bien 10, Rue du CoNgres, cette dernière étant l'adresse de la "Solidarité Légionnaire", un service de Rex.

However i can tell you, without a lot of danger, that the illustration showing a motorcyclist is more probably a fake, and maybe even a fabricated one for the simple reason that the address should be CONGRES and not COMGRES.
The address was the one of "Legion Solidarity", a Rexist department.

In my opinion this is a post-war print, using the small flyer with a similar design, in which "Congrès" is badly written (and non-belgium reader will read Comgrès and not Congrès).

                          See You

Many thanks Vince. The postcard must also be a fake, because it's spelled the exact same way.
