    SS tray for review

    Hi Guys
    Theres a local dealer here how has this tray for sale ,and i was wondering if it could be period,maybe post war or the worst case scenerio bad.Any and all thoughts would be appreciated.Jay

            The problem with these kind of pieces is that in most, if not all cases, it's virtually impossible to tell whether the engraving was done pre or post war without some kind of provenance. Really sloppy work may immediately denote a fake, but these engraved items will ALWAYS spark skepticism. A big problem is that are so darn many actually old silverware items have ben post-war engraved, it casts immediate doubt on ALL pieces like this. I'm sure that even some original wartime pieces have been called fake just by association. However, the odds are never in your favor. I'd say PASS!!

                    I have only ever seen one silver tray like this one which I believed to be original.

                    It is a small Luftwaffe silver coaster

                      Period pieces show so much more workmanship .. Note how the wreath & swastika hang freely - not aligned .
