There has been bullion eagles with a lot of wear leaving only some threads of oxidized silver left. I have never seen any bullion work where all is gone, even at the reverse. Looks more like some kind of practice example to me. Or an example of ordinary thread on top of a template.
It is also a bit weird as Mr Hritz pointed out that the chest details are just a mess including that strange black diagonal thread.
Isn't the first version 'supposed' to have a head that faces left, not right?
It still looks good though. I especially like the detail of the swastika and wreath.
Hi and thanks for answers. Both left and right headed are shown in John R. Angolias Cloth insignia of the ss. pg. 436 and 437. The dipped wing style with right faced eagle head "is believed to be a manufacturer´s error"...
