Looks like the leftovers of period trousers.

              Cheers

Not uncommon to find these shortened for postwar civilian wear .. Then again , I've seen them even shorter in period wear Pic. from Militaryphotos.net .

                  Suggestion

Put Bavarian Leather suspenders on them and sport those Bad Boys to Oktoberfest. Yes they could be period or post war, who would ever really know.

The trousers could be period shortened, lots of pictures wich confirms these alterations. We have a lot of fieldmade camojackets, trousers and caps. You have to study the construction to sort them out from the items made for civilian use after the war. All sort of clothing were made up by leftovers to be used in daily life when there was a desperate need for civilian clothes.

                        Best regards, Tom

I use to have an officers tunic converted to a civilain suit jacket when I was a teenager. Don't really know whatever happened to it lost it somewhere in my many moves
