    Opinion about collar tabs?

    Hi

I have the possibility to buy this set of SS collar tabs, since I normally don't collect SS, I have to ask: are they original?
Thank you for helping me out.

You might want to think twice before you start.

These are worse than the 1970's Hollywood/Television costume fakes (which weren't meant to fool anyone).

Let not your heart be troubled. Just compare to other examples on the forum. Use "SEARCH" to find examples of anything, then check out the reactions by the experts on the forum. Once you have seen originals, most fakes stand out immediately. As for the tabs, real ones have VERY TIGHT bullion embroidery. Don't be intimidated by lack of knowledge - just do your homework, and make sure there's a return policy if you're unhappy. The fact that you posted the tabs and asked for guidance shows you're on the right direction. Good luck.

I agree with above members. No insults, but these tabs are bad to the bone and easy to spot as fakes! In the field of collecting SS one has to learn a lot. Crawl before you can walk. It is a good step that you asked for opinions. A lot can be learned through using the search function on this forum. Spend a few hours using that function and following ongoing threads and a lot can be learned.

        Cheers and good luck!

          Hi

Thank you all for your replys, I'll keep my hands off them then.
The description for the tabs was silverthreads on velvet, that made me suspicious. I normally collect german heer nachrichten, I'll guess i'll stick to that
Again thank you for your comments.

            Please dont get scared off!
It just takes some time and knowledge to enter a new field of collecting! Some studies and the will to ask for advice, and to search and it can be done!

            Cheers,
            Felix

hcs - You're become discouraged too easily. There are SS items you can purchase that are relatively safe. A good example is the SS bevo Tropical Skull. These are plentiful, and go for around $100. Just do your homework, and buy from a reputable dealer with a return policy. If you're unsure, just post the item, and we're glad to help. Some replies on the forums are less than tactful, but don't let that deter you. Have you considered collecting SA items. They're more colorful, and not outrageously expensive. Good luck.
