    Real or Fake?

    Hi.
Here is a BEVO band from Gøtz von Berlichingen. On sale on a web site.
No, i have not bought it, and will not do. Its an original, or is it??
All atributes for an original are there: loose threading on back, threads are light grey, the back shows the "salt and peppar"

    Peter,
is this a quiz??, from the photo I can see the cuff title has had 2 pieces added on each end to increase the length of the title, I have also seen this done to fake bands as well, in other words, fake band, sewn on ends of original BeVo material and have them loose through the cuff on a uniform or a piece of cloth to simulate a cuff, thus the collector check's the band material on the inside so not to disturb the outside look sees original band material and is happy!!!.

Then again I have seen original bands with bits added, so what is your point about the band as it sounds like you know?

    cheers,
    Gary

It has for me the things I like from a photo, feeling it is the final test.

        Its a question.
I find BEVO bands to be difficult to judge. The web site claims its original.
I´m confused why a band in mint condition has the ends cut of, and then attached again.
What are you guys looking for in BEVO bands?
In the old days you looked for the loose threads at the back and the salt`n`pepper back. But fakes are made that way to these days?
Its good to have some feedback, both from books and collectors like you people.
By the way, i have been warned about the web site selling that cuff title.

          peter,
The cuff band is original the fake of this band is nothing like the original (yet).

why the band has been sewn ?????????? who knows, some BeVo bands split with age, this is due to either faulty welts or bad storage, the welt is a fine gauze the band is woven onto, the band can be mint and still split if it has the above problems, so the ends on this band maybe the original parts of the band re attached or added to extend the length who knows!!!!!
below is the only known fake BeVo band in this style quite apparent the differences and they do not need pointing out!! just look at the picture,
          cheers,
          Gary
