    BUTTON with RUNES for PARADE?

    Hi,

is that a parade tunic button?

Pre RZM, due to the marking BSW (BSW BrĂ¼der Schneider, Wien) on the backside? Multipiece construction.

It would have been for the evening dress (aka tuxedo) uniform.

I have never owned one, nor do I know much about them. However, I still have doubts about this particular button's originality.

My doubts are based on the material and the design. Based on what I recall from the few known originals I have seen, I believe they were all unfinished aluminum. Of course, it is possible that different materials were used at different times or by different makers. I also believe that the angles of the runes are different than the originals I saw.

However, like I said, I have very little experience with these uniforms and I can't say that I gave the buttons a close examination. Furthermore, I am just going from memory, so take my observations for what they are. I am sure there are forum members who can offer more/better information.

I think, this one was made in early years before RZM, the MM for BSW looks good.

Material seems to be thin nickel.

The buttons on the vest to my SS tuxedo have the same markings as this buttom pictured here. The larger Tux buttons like on the chained two button clasp, spell out assmann & sohne on the back.
The button you have is 100% correct.

Agreed the button is from a Tux vest and original.

Hi, Brad, Tux buttons it would seem, were made in both alu and nickle,
alu being prodominant, and M5/8 Assmann produced, Von Ribbentrops
would appear to be nickle for sure, (As shown in Beavers book)
The button above is a vest button, not tux. Hope this is helpful.
                      Cheers

did this one was produced before 1934 (because it lacks RZM marking)?

                        What do you think?

If it was produced pre-RZM (ie: pre 1935), it wouldn't have a Vienna maker (since it wasn't yet part of the Reich). It has to be a non-RZM, post-1938 piece.

What are originals going for these days?
