Excellent thread. May I ask you to email me with one of those pie-charts, for TK rings? I would of course credit you with the work, with anything that I do with the chart. Ideally, I'd like to include it in any second-edition work done for a TK ring book (nothing in the works right now, but I'm gathering info in case there is ever enough information to justify such an endeavor. Thanks again for all of your work!

[quote=Fritz;3116065]No, it also is a great tool for the fakers. Just test an orignial and have a list of the contents done and at which % they are in that piece. Then have that alloy reproduced. This will "help" with the correct weight, with what it "feels" like and the optical appearance.
It won't be long until they are faking the test certificates to put with fake rings , all you need is photoshop, even easier then doing the correct alloy.

great topic,,some great quotes:
"Make sure you'll get the model which is able to spot manganese in small quantities
As for medals and badges and metallic insignia, you still must know which is original to set a databank for comparison.

Gentlemen,
Here are a few more examples to demonstrate what is possible for those interested . Here we are able to actually measure and create an Element Composition Profile for a 100% original example SS M40 Q decal covered by camo paint and an additonal Totenkopf analysis.

Hello Maui,
Can you tell me, on the camo Q helmet, if the x-ray analysis is for the camo paint, decal and helmet all together, or can they be separated to the elemental composition of the paint, the decal and the helmet alloy?
Thank you,

Hi David,
great work! This is the route to go and I am really looking froward meeting you soon and discuss how we will tackle the EK1 and Spange for the upcoming research for the EK1 book.
It will blow some of the fakes of the Iron Cross right out of the water - just like it did with the Rounder RK when it was started by Tom Hansen.
You did and will do a great service for the collecting community!
