    SS Eagle?

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone would have an idea as to what type of eagle this might be? I found it in a box with assorted items obtained from a vet a number of years ago. It looks similar to others I have seen on overseas caps. Thanks in advance for your help.

It sort-of reminds me of the variation eagles you see which were supposedly made in Italy during the war. Was the vet stationed in Italy? I'm sure someone here more knowledgeable on the subject can chime in and give you more info.

          Elite Cap Insignia?

          Hello,
Thank you for your responses. I do not know where this vet was stationed during the war. I am not familiar with the term "Cap Trap". As you can tell, I am totally lost when it comes to this type of item. I am curious as to whether or not you think this insignia has the potential of being authentic? The other items in the box, were related to the Luftwaffe. There was 1 fender penant and some assorted buttons and pins. Thanks again for your help.

            patch dimensions?

            Hi Micheal,
I'm curious to the birds width?
            Does it pass UV/burn test?
I would guess ss if an official eagle.
            I like it.

"cap trap" is a term for insignia trapezoid shaped patches.

              Hi,
Thanks for clearing up the "Cap Trap" question. I'll measure it and get back to you. I haven't tested it yet.

Not the first time. I remember the "XX" being used here as well, so as not to offend us:
