    M-43 Cap

You probably haven't received much response because these SS M-43's are really a tough call. I believe that a high percentage of SS M-43's are put together anyway, because anyone captured would have been stripped of insignia. If I knew that an M-43 was originally an SS cap without any doubt, a pieced-together cap would not bother me too much, as long as the insignia was good. This cap may be good as gold, but they are assemblying caps now using original wool, and they often convert Heer caps into SS, though I think there'd be a sign of a Heer trapezoid. There's also a big debate on previous threads about the use of RBN numbers on SS M-43's you may want to use "SEARCH" to research. Some say they won't buy an SS M-43 with RBN numbers, and others swear it's OK. In the end, you'll drive yourself crazy with these caps. I suggest you submit more photos and better closeups of the cap, including under the flaps, etc., etc. Don't let me dissuade you. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with the cap, but others on here know more. . More and better photos would help the real experts chime in. I was going to get a similar cap once, but instead got one of those Dachau stored SS Panzer M-43's with the exposed cardboard on the bill underside. They're virtually all the same in materials and construction, and I don't believe they;re well faked. They have a unique style weave in the wool, and unusual construction aspects that most M-43's don't. Good luck. More photos!!!

Thank you for all the replies. It was a good learning experience reading all the old threads, and there were some long ones, on the SS m43's. You made made some very valid points, that are confirmed in the older threads. Jacques
