Just the price is the first red flag.... the seller "seems to know" all the details to be looking for in a original wrap except the right price for such rare item... I hope it doesn't sell

Why do people actually BELIEVE they're going to find GOOD stuff like this (only original) on the auctions? Maybe you can pick up something small and non elite. It's not impossible; however, if pigs could fly...

Good stuff is available there but maybe 1 out of 1000 when it comes to items like these.

          Cheers

If you're a multimillionaire you can probably go on eBay and find the real thing... but this doesn't happen to us poor people.

maybe 10 yrs ago on eBay, one could have had a strike of luck... today it's 99.99% garbage and hunting territory for fakers...

That is extremely exaggerated, you can also buy below dealer prices there. Saying that it is a 100% no-go-area is a false statement.

It is however true that you have to know your stuff, but that is the same everywhere.

                Cheers

I agree. I think you can find nice but cheap original items on ebay (field dressings, feldpost letters, maybe helmets without liner etc) but it can be a mine-field when it comes to expensive extraordinary stuff. I have also noticed lately a huge influx of wehrmacht militaria from Poland (ebay.co.uk) from toothbrushes to POW dog-tags, insignia etc. Everytime I see these huge lots I wonder whether they can be trusted as "original" items (I am a novice in the area of WWII militaria yet)

That's what I thought, but how did he get all his pos. feedback?

I think he has got a large number of other items that are not militaria related...perhaps that is part of the reason for his good feedbacks. But there are many ways to build that up I think.

                          Cheers

                            Hello
If you do not know what you are buying or looking for , yes Ebay and any other auctions , site etc... for that matter , are not for you simple as that . It is easy to get burn anywhere , not just ebay . There are still enough good items on ebay to make it worth to look at , if only you do know what to look for .
If you think ebay does not have any good helmets , then you should ask "helmetbuyers" , he seems to find them everyday !!!.
Sometimes I think the people telling you not to go on ebay , only do it so they can have it for themselves !!??.
Regarding both items posted , they are obvious repro , the wrap does not have the right "things" to begin with , then the other one is nice , if you are a reenactor or just want a "nice" display .
                            Regards
                            P-Y
