URGENT Thoughts Needed

An antique dealer friend of mine has sent me this hat on approval. There are a number of things I don't like about it but just to be sure I would like your opinions. I have only owned one original SS Pz M-43 cap in my life (and handled very few others) which was DACHAU made and came directly from a 3rd Armor veteran I once knew, who was there and liberated it himself. I sold it over 20 years ago.

The inside cardboard brim of this cap has almost completly desintegrated. It has no foliage loops, and I don't know what the deal is with the lining.

Let me know your thoughts ASAP as I have to get this back to him.

Buttons and buttonholes. Buttons were painted black which has all rubbed off.

This cap has a "sweat" band running the entire inner circumference. The first half of it has internal batting material which pokes through at a couple of wear spots.

Bottom line is: if your gut tells you that something isn't right... if your brain starts asking questions... then don't buy it, or return it as soon as possible. Nine times out of 10, your gut feel is the right way to go. Otherwise you'll talk yourself into owning a fake.
