    Here's a test that doesn't necessarily prove anything, but it's something I like to see. Look at the plane of the bottom of the cap. Notice how the front tilts upward from the cap sitting for many years.

      Notice how in this picture, the top of the cap droops over the side, because over the years, the fabric gets tired!!

        Last pic. Here's how the wool should look. I feel your cap may be a Frankenstein. I base this on the new appearance of the lining, and the fact that there's no fraying, compared to the tattered sweatband and interior. It's difficult to tell from photos, but the wool looks new as well, and the cap has virtually no sagging from age. Any questions, please reply, or PM me.

          The hat is not pre RZM. It is just not RZM marked. You have a fine hat. Ideally, it should have an early D&SM marked m34 skull and an m-29 small political eagle. Peter
