I have had, for a good 40+ years, a small (approx. 13mm) pin-back lapel pin with the SS runes in an oak-leaf wreath, sort of a bronzed finish, with a hook-and-pin on the back and a poorly-struck RZM mark (?) above the pin. I would post pics except I cannot. I originally obtained it from a collector in northern NJ.
My assumption has always been that this pin, IF 'real', was for 'civilian dress' occasions, and I have been told that it seems to be 'period', but no one has seen any info on this particular item in any references. Does anyone out there know what it could possibly be? And, of course, if it IS possibly an actual SS item from wartime (or possibly postwar, perhaps a former members' association-which might explain the very small size)?
Thanks in advance-
MC
