White Lapels

Hello,
I am gutting some picture files,( disk space ) and came across this
one. E-Bay auction I high bid on, then it was pulled. ( funeral album )
Apologies if it was sold later and WAF member now has, who are these
personalities? one paying ' homage ' to the leader.

I don't know about Rauter's lapels, but Demelhuber's are definitely WHITE and so are the underlay to his shoulder boards. I've seen the greatcoat and one of his tunics and a friend of mine owns the insignia grouping... the shoulder boards have WHITE underlay, not light-gray. The WHITE might be a hold over from the Allgemeine-SS general's tunics.

As always great answers, and some of whats worn still
exists in collections.
I have a couple more uniforms pics of interest, and a paperwork
shot that can date the time frame / unit ?

Thanks for sharing! A few interesting observations:

1. Only the Oberscharfuehrer on the far left has a cuff title--can't quite make it out, tho.
2. All 3 tunics appear to have been shortened--not surprising, since as everyone knows, it was very common.
3. Der Spiess's and the far right Oberscharfuehrer's collars have been either altered or replaced--both have longer than standard points.
4. Der Spiess seems to have sewn-in shoulder straps.
5. The far right Oberscharfuehrer's chest pocket flaps look a little short. Also looks like his sleeves have been lengthened.

I'm sure I missed a few things.

Another observation!
The spiess has his 2nd tunic button attached with a cotterpin (or split pin or "S"pin) or sewn to the flap, which allows his "der Spiess" reporting book to be slipped in its traditional position without interfering with this button (basically that area is unbottoned but it does not show... the book resting on the 3rd button!
A company sergeant trick/modification! So if you come across a Spiess tunic with a button affixed this way, don't fix it (don't restore it)!

PS: another observation: the Spiess also removed his cap chin strap giving the visor an "altes model" (crusher) look and the other NCO's cuff title appears to read "Deutschland".
